Meet Dr. James Barrass

Dr. James Barrass

I was aware of the great benefits of chiropractic treatment even in my childhood. My brother and I use to wrestle. One day I managed to get him in a head lock and twisted his head a bit. We both heard a large pop and he couldn’t move his neck...at all! Dad took him to the chiropractor and when he came home all was well. He hasn’t let me forget! Now whenever I am near his neck, it is for the purpose of providing him with a healing adjustment.

This August I will have been in practice for 28 years. Yet, in my mind, one particular success story stands out: I once treated a three-day-old baby. Her neck was twisted and stuck to the left as a result of coming through the birth canal. Within two hours after an extremely gentle adjustment, the father called and told me her neck was freed up and mobile. What a feeling!

I love what I do and try to see each patient as the unique individual that they truly are. A patient is not just a spine but rather an individual aspiring to achieve their goals, as well as their families’ dreams and goals. Each person has a heart, feelings and emotions that can impact their recovery. I particularly enjoy seeing patients return to a favorite activity that they gave up because of pain. Now they are thrilled to be back in the saddle.

As your partner in wellness, I believe that stress is the number one cause of today’s disease. It may be emotional/mental stress from the job, it may be biochemical/genetic stress that causes allergies or it may be structural/physical stress that is a result of sitting at the computer hour after hour.

I consider it an honor to participate in your individual healing. It’s a team effort, you and me. I look forward to proving you with my years of experience treating not only musculoskeletal conditions but many others as well. I look forward to our chance to meet.

Can chiropractic relieve PMS?
If you have subluxations, especially in the lower spine that impair nerves that direct and monitor the reproductive and hormonal systems, chiropractic could be helpful. Undetected subluxations may also be responsible for pelvic pain, incontinence, sexual dysfunction and even infertility. Maybe chiropractic can help. Find out!
What can a chiropractor do for asthma?
Many people think of chiropractic as exclusively dealing with the spine. But I'm interested in the spine because it covers the nervous system. Problems in the spine can produce problems in the organs and tissues controlled by the affected nerves—including those to the lungs and bronchial tubes. Find out how chiropractic care has helped those with asthma.
